Vol goede moed vertrok ik woensdagochtend vanaf Amsterdam Sloterdijk voor mijn reis terug naar huis. Want thuis is tegenwoordig in Gdansk, Polen.
Eerst naar Berlijn en daar overstappen op de bus naar Gdansk.

Voor Apeldoorn stonden we al stil: file. Dat herhaalde zich nog een paar keer in Duitsland waardoor de totale vertraging 2 en half uur werd. En ik had 2 uur om over te stappen. Aansluiting gemist dus.

Al toen duidelijk werd dat overstappen moeilijk zou gaan worden, ik was de enige overstapper in de bus, werd er door chauffeur vanuit de bus al contact opgenomen met Flixbus. En ik belde ze ook en ik belde ze zodra ik aan kwam in Berlijn.

Ze hadden 2 mogelijke alternatieven: om 22:30 met een Poolse reisorganisatie naar Gdansk, of om 23:30 met Sindbad, maar die bus ging gek genoeg eerst wel richting Gdansk, maar boog dan af naar Warschau om daarna pas weer richting Gdansk te gaan. Dus eerst het hele land door (en Polen is een groot land), 3 dozijn stops en dan pas Gdansk. De :Poolse personenbus had geen plaats en Sindbad was geen optie.

Zoekend op mijn telefoon vond ik een vlucht, met Finnair via Helsinki en een trein van Berlijn naar Gdansk. Kosten vlucht: € 410,=, kosten trein: € 257,=.

Ik besloot een hotel te gaan zoeken voor de nacht en de volgende ochtend eerst naar station te gaan en als dat niets opleverde die vlucht te boeken.
Maar alle hotels op loopafstand waren volgeboekt. Ik moest dus noodgedwongen de nacht doorbrengen op het ZOB, de Zentraler Autobus Bahnhof, deels buiten.

Dat was geen pretje, 3 graden Celsius is niet echt een prettige temperatuur.

Maar tijdens het kijken op de vertrek staten zag ik de naam Stettin, die stad ligt net over de grens in Polen, helemaal in het Noordwesten. De stad heeft ook een Poolse naam, maar daar zal ik jullie niet mee vermoeien. Daar ging om 07:15 een bus naar toe en ik dacht, die neem ik gewoon, dan zie ik in Stettin wel verder. Zo gezegd zo gedaan, bus geboekt en om 07:15 uur zat ik in de bus, met een stopcontact dus ik kon ook mijn telefoon weer opladen.

Na een klein 2 en half uur kwamen we aan bij het station in Stettin. Ik kwam de stationshal binnen en zag dat er om 11:08 uur een Intercity naar Gdansk ging. Ik had dus goed gegokt. Op naar het loket.
Ik kocht een enkele reis Gdansk Glowny en moest 59 Poolse Zloty's afrekening, zo'n € 12,50.
Zo was ik voor bus en trein € 30,= kwijt, aanzienlijk minder dan trein of vliegtuig van Berlijn naar Gdansk.

De treinreis met de InterCity duurde 5 uur. Blijkbaar vinden het Polen het fijn om het erg warm te hebben in de trein, ik zat in mijn t-shirt peentjes te zweten.
Ik besloot niet te blijven zitten tot Gdansk Glowny (Centraal Station) maar er in Gdansk Oliwa al uit te gaan en vandaar per Uber door te reizen.

Ik was net voor 17:00 uur thuis. Helemaal kapot. Wat boodschappen gedaan, iets gegeten en toen naar bed want ik moest de volgende dag om 07:00 uur beginnen op het werk.

De jacht op een appartement

De jacht op een appartement.

Aangezien ik van detacheerder over ging naar een contract bij inlenend bedrijf en de detacheerder voor de huisvesting had gezorgd, moest ik op zoek naar mijn eigen appartement.

Dat leverde 2 uitdagingen op: ten eerste hoorde ik pas 14 dagen van tevoren dat ik een contract bij inlener kreeg, ten tweede moet ik op 30 juni uit dit appartement en kan ik pas 1 juli in het nieuwe.

Daarbij was ik in die 14 dagen ook nog eens een lang weekend in Nederland, al heeft dat de zoektocht niet echt gehinderd.

Er is hier in Polen een site, domy.pl, waar je zowel koop- als huurhuizen kunt vinden. Je kunt dan bij elk huis of appartement aangeven dat je interesse hebt, door je naam, mailadres  en telefoonnummer in te vullen.

Dat verschillende keren gedaan, in vrije tekstvak aangegeven dat ik geen Pools spreek en waar ik naar op zoek ben.

Dat leverde geen reactie op of een makelaar die geen Engels sprak.

Tactiek toen veranderd, naast het insturen van het interesse formulier, bij eerstvolgende gelegenheid de betreffende makelaar gebeld.

Dat had meer succes, ik werd uitgenodigd voor een bezichtiging. Perfect appartement, groot, met een terras van 40 m2.

Ik zou na mijn werk naar dat appartement toe gaan. Vol goede moed bestelde ik een Uber.

Maar wat mij nog nooit over komen is, 50 minuten lang geen Uber beschikbaar of de app was in de war. In die 50 minuten heb ik een auto gehad op 4 minuten, maar die schoot toen weer naar 24 minuten om vervolgens weer te verdwijnen.

In overleg met de makelaar de afspraak toen maar een dag verzet. Dus ik zit de volgende dag alvast op een bankje beneden en neem nog een slok water. En toen beep beep. SMS. Van de makelaar, afspraak ging niet door, ze hadden en stel wat het wilde en die zouden in het weekend tekenen, zouden ze dat niet doen, dan zou het appartement voor mij zijn.

Zo mooi werd het dus niet, maar ik die makelaar bellen en vragen of ze niets in dezelfde prijsklassen had. Dat had ze, in de wijk Zaspa, studio in nieuw appartementengebouw. Dus gelijk afspraak gemaakt om te bezichtigen. Met Uber, dit keer wel gewoon beschikbaar, naartoe gegaan en het beviel mij prima, dus ik zeg tegen makelaar: ik neem em!

Ik kon er alleen niet in op de dag dat ik uit het huidige appartement moest. Niet op de vrijdag, maar pas op de zondag. Geen nood, hotelletje geboekt met ontbijtbuffet en WiFi voor 2 nachten en vanaf de zondag woon ik in dat appartement. Biedronka (supermarkt) vlakbij, naar werk 4 minuten bus en 2 minuten trein en dicht bij het strand!

Gestrand

Vanmiddag, na een bezoek aan Galeria Baltycka (groot indoor winkelcentrum) terug naar station wat daar bij ligt. Ik zie dat de treinen om de 7 minuten gaan.

Mooi, hoef ik niet lang te wachten.

Maar 1 station (Stoznja) voor mijn station (Gdansk Glowny) bleef de trein veel langer staan dan normaal. Na ruim 10 minuten werd er iets omgeroepen in het Pools. Ik had werkelijk geen idee wat.

Maar mensen verlieten de trein en gingen naar tram.

Dat deed ik ook maar. Houten trap van voor de 1e wereldoorlog op, brug over en trap naar beneden.

Sta ik bij de tram, zie ik dat mijn trein weg is en dat er een volgende aankwam. Die niet gehaald, masr de volgende wel. Al ging ik met doodsverachting van die houten trap van voor de 1e wereldoorlog af.

En op de foto zie je waar ik was gestrand.

Referendum

U bent voor de gek gehouden. Jawel, door Geen Stijl, Geen Peil en wat lieden die stemmen ronselden.

Want het gaat helemaal waar zij van zeggen dat het over gaat. Meer democratie? Veel meer democratie dan waarmee dat, zogenaamde, vermaledijde, Associatie Verdrag tot stand is gekomen, kan eigenlijk niet. Maar daarover later meer.

Voor meer invloed op welke landen erbij komen in de EU? Daar gaat het Associatie Verdrag niet over. En ook niet over andere dingen waarvan de organisatoren zeiden dat het deel uitmaakte van het Associatie Verdrag.. Ook daarover later meer.

Allereerst heeft Geen Stijl een onderwerp gekozen waarvan ze bij voorbaat weten dat "Zie je wel!" kunnen zeggen, wat er ook gebeurd. De regering kan werkelijk niets met dit referendum. Dus je hoort het "zie je wel!" al aankomen.
En dat is geen gebrek aan democratie. In elke van de EU landen heeft een meerderheid van het nationale Parlement het Associatie Verdrag geratificeerd. In een democratie beslist de meerderheid.
Huidige stand is dat 22 van de 28 landen geratificeerd hebben.
Zou de regering dus iets met het referendum willen doen, dan zou de regering binnen die 28 landen een meerderheid moeten zoeken die ineens tegen is.

Dan het Associatie Verdrag zelf. 99,0% heeft geen flauw idee wat dat Verdrag inhoudt, dus daar een referendum over houden heeft niets met democratie te maken. Meet met je zin doordrijven.
Wat houdt het Associatie Verdrag in ieder geval niet in? Het Associatie Verdrag zegt niets over de toetreding van Oekraïne tot de EU. Nederland heeft ook Associatie Verdragen met Turkije en de Palestijnse Autoriteit.
Weinig kans dat die 2 op korte termijn tot de EU toetreden.
Wat ook niet in het Associatie Verdrag voorkomt is eventuele militaire steun aan Oekraïne in geval van een conflict met Rusland.

Het Associatie Verdrag is niets meer dan een overeenkomst tot samenwerken, bijvoorbeeld op de gebieden van handel en onderwijs.

Terwijl er zoveel te kiezen was om handtekeningen in te zamelen, koos Geen Stijl bewust voor iets waar niets mee gedaan kon worden en misleidde daarbij ook nog eens over het onderwerp.

Wanneer je zo de democratie wilt helpen heb ik ernstige bedenking bij je intenties.

Risico genomen......

Ik begin dus maandag in een nieuwe baan. Althans, met 3 weken training als voor bereiding op die baan.

Een baan die ik heel graag wilde. Zo graag, dat is er zelfs een risico voor nam.

Wat is het geval. Sinds ik begin april werkloos werd doordat het project waar ik op zat stopte, had ik WW.
Maar die zou ik maar 3 maanden hebben, dus budgettair gesproken zou ik het tot begin augustus hebben kunnen uithouden.

Uiteraard druk gesolliciteerd, testen gedaan, gesprekken gehad, maar in alle gevallen had men in die grote vijver met werkzoekenden een meer geschikte vis gevonden of een vis die dichter bij het profiel zat.

Mijn oude teamleidster was bereid als referentie op te treden, maar hoe positief zij ook over mij was, het mocht niet baten.

Tot eind juni. Gesolliciteerd op een klantenservice functie bij een mobiele provider. Testen gedaan, allemaal goed en toen mocht ik op gesprek komen. En ook dat gesprek verliep heel goed. Het was eigenlijk ideaal, dichtbij, ik kon het aantal uren werken dat ik wilde en het was werk.

Ongeveer in diezelfde tijd zag ik de vacature voor de baan die het nu geworden is. Bij Randstad en ik was eerder op gesprek geweest bij een andere afdeling van Randstad en was toen bij een klant afgewezen om een reden waar de intercedente het ook helemaal niet eens was. Die intercedente zei toen tegen mij: als je een vacature ziet bij Randstad waarop je wilt solliciteren bel mij dan even, dan doe ik een goed woordje voor je.

Zo gezegd, zo gedaan en al snel werd ik door de intercedente gebeld over de functie die ik echt wilde, waar mijn talenknobbel goed tot zijn recht zou komen en waar ik gewoon van dacht dat ik er meer thuis zou zijn.

Maar toen werd het nog ingewikkelder. Ik werd ook gebeld door Unique voor een functie bij Sanquin.
Ik maakte blijkbaar zo'n goede indruk dat ik op gesprek mocht.
En even na dat bericht kwam het bericht dat ik mocht beginnen bij de mobiele provider.

Wat nu te doen. Baan bij de mobiele provider was nu een zekerheid.
Maar zou ik dat doen, dan zou ik niet naar gesprek bij Sanquin kunnen. En de baan die ik echt graag wilde werd dan ook moeilijk, want ik wist niet of er een proeftijd in het contract zou staan, dat is namelijk niet meer verplicht.

Uiteraard ga je dan te rade in de vriendenkring. "Volg jouw hart!", was het advies.

En ik vond dat ik dat maar eens moest doen. Dus zekere baan afgezegd, wel naar gesprek bij Sanquin geweest, was ook een heel goed gesprek, ze vonden mij ook heel goed, maar kozen toch voor een kandidaat met wat meer medische ervaring.

En toen werd het spannend. Ook al omdat mijn referentie even niet bereikbaar was. Dat bewoog mij tot een out of the box plannetje, maar dat bleek gelukkig niet nodig.

En gisteren kwam dan eindelijk het verlossende woord toen de intercedente belde: "Theo, ik mag jou feliciteren!".

Ik was blij, opgelucht en ik heb enorm veel zin om maandag te beginnen!
