Lately there
has been alot to about women’s rights in the United States of America. Or
rather, the deprivation of those rights by Republican politicians.
The US may
have a Democratic President, in a lot of States the Governor is a Republican
and the Republicans have a majority in the State Assembly and/or State Senate.
The
ultra-conservative and religious part of he Republican party is fighting
fiercely against abortion and leave no opportunity unused to make it impossible
for abortion clinics to do their work.
For
example, a law was passed in the state of Wisconsin and signed by Governor Scot
Walker, who was also eager to put a ban on teacher’s unions into law, which
requires women that want an abortion to undergo a mandatory ultrasound. And
with “ultrasound”you might think about a device on which you put some gel and
which then slides over your belly to show the inside of your belly on a
monitor. I thought so too, but it’s a little different, actually, it’s a lot
different.
The law
requires women to undergo a procedure in which a 10 inch metal wand is inserted
into the vagina without any medical reason and wether she likes it or not.
This procedure
comes very close to what the FBI defines as rape.
And then
the Republicans still wonder why so few women voted for them…..
Moreover,
the law in Wisconsin, but also similar laws in Ohio, North Carolina,
Mississippi and elsewhere mean that almost no abortion clinic, usually run by
the organization named Planned Parenthood, remains.
And how far
this goes: in the Texas Senate, during
the discussion about the law, women were not aloud to take tampons or pads with
on the public gallery. They might throw them towards Republican Senators…..
Believe it or not, but State Troopers searched the bags. Then again, it still
Texas, so guns weren’t a problem at all.
